Thank you to all who participated in the food drive. The totals are as follows 1st place goes to the 3rd-4th-5th grade class with 296.6 lbs of food collected, 2nd place goes to the 1st & 2nd grade class with 110.4 lbs, 3rd place goes to Pre-k & Kindergarten at 76.4 lbs and 4th place goes to the 6th-7th-8th grade class with 72.2 lbs. Each class should take pride in participating in this endeavor. Good job! With all the food collected we raised 672 lbs to help fight against hunger. Thank you to the Edmonds Church who supported this cause, they brought in 116.4 lbs of food. Way to go Cypress!
Our Cypress motto is “a good place to grow.” We strive for our students to have a well-rounded experience in general studies and to have opportunities to explore areas of their special interest. Cypress School measures its success in a variety of ways. Each year students in grades 3-8 take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, a nationally recognized standardized test. For the last fifteen years Cypress class average composite scores have consistently been in the top 25 percentile range (75-99 %).
However, we feel that a more significant measure of our school success is found in tracking the progress of our graduates. Cypress grads are often on honor rolls in high school, and are equipped to enter advanced placement or International Baccalaureate programs. A high percentage of Cypress grads attend college and university and often receive scholarships. Tracking our students in recent years shows Cypress grads enrolled in the following schools:
PUBLIC COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES:
- Central WA University
- Harvard University
- Humboldt State, CA
- University of WA
- USC, CA
- Western WA University
- Community Colleges in our area
PRIVATE CHRISTIAN COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES:
- Andrews University, MI
- Canadian University College, Alberta
- La Sierra University, CA
- Loma Linda University, CA
- Pacific Union College, CA
- Seattle Pacific University
- Southern Adventist University, TN
- Walla Walla University, WA
We are proud of our academic track record. Our graduates continually demonstrate that Cypress Adventist School has indeed been successful in helping its students to discover their unique talents, preparing them to make a positive difference in their world. Our graduates continue to let us know that Cypress Adventist School is “a good place to grow.”
Cypress parents play an active role in our learning community. Parent involvement includes: advisory groups, the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), volunteering in classes as tutors and helpers, and extracurricular activity support. Parent involvement stressing daily student accountability for homework, reading, and special projects is a very essential part of student success and individual progress .
I’m often asked, “What is the secret of your school’s success?” “What makes your students so well equipped to succeed in high school and college?”
The answer does not lie just in our rigorous academic program and our emphasis on values. It is found in our school’s intentional community approach to educating the whole child.
Cypress School is blessed with a rich diversity in its learning environment outlined in the headings of community that follow. We invite you to contact us. We believe that you too may discover what many others already have that Cypress School is indeed “a good place to grow.”
We look forward to hearing from you.

Our Pre-K and Kindergarten teacher, Loreen Dougherty, has a Masters degree in Quality Education and has been teaching Pre-K through 2nd grade for 20 years. She is an enthusiastic and patient teacher who truly connects with young children to give them the best possible start to their education experience.
My daughter took Kindergarten from Mrs. Dougherty. She is now in 3rd grade and still talks about how much she loves her! My son is excited to be in her class this year. –Liz
